Ficary vs PracticePro 365

Ficary vs PracticePro 365: a full practice platform with a real ledger under it. PracticePro 365 runs Dynamics in a Microsoft tenant. ficary runs the firm on Google and Microsoft, ages WIP and AR as of any date, values unbilled work at expected collectible, and closes the month on one set of books.

Nominative comparison, not a partnership. Firm sales open when this suite is in the product. Tax prep stays last. ficary has not earned SOC 2, ISO 27001, or a HIPAA attestation.

The split that matters

Ficary vs PracticePro 365 is not a feature checklist of Dynamics modules. PracticePro 365 sells a Microsoft-native practice suite in your tenant. ficary sells the firm’s work and the client’s books as one product. If August is not closed, a dashboard in Power BI is not the close.

Isolation without a Dynamics project

Their isolation story is an own-tenant Dataverse. Ours is a dedicated database per firm, private inference, and BYO-key — on Google and Microsoft. Same bar: you own the data plane. Different method: we do not become your Dynamics implementation desk.

WIP, realization, and the fee cap

Unbilled work is dated, rate-bearing, and cap-aware. Service lines set a default expected collectible. Engagements can override it. After a max fee, further time can still show for capacity and the WIP value is zero. Production reports and the general ledger read the same number.

What we will not do

We will not invent an unpublished PracticePro seat price. We will not publish client stories or field numbers. We will not claim SOC 2, ISO 27001, or HIPAA. We will not sell tax prep first.

Choose PracticePro 365 when

Choose PracticePro 365 when Dynamics is already the operating system and you do not need Google as a first-class surface.

PracticePro 365 is built on Dynamics 365 and Dataverse in the firm’s own Microsoft tenant. Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, and Power BI are native surfaces. Choose them if the firm already lives in Dynamics and will stay Microsoft-only.

Choose ficary when

Choose ficary when the firm has to close, age unbilled work on any date, land opening WIP without booking it as this month’s revenue, and keep client files off a shared model pool.

ficary is the practice platform with a ledger underneath. Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 are both first-class. Time, WIP, AR, and close live on the same books. As-of aging, realization, and fee caps are product — not a Power BI project and not a custom table you wait a cycle for.

If you switch

Map a native Dataverse or practice export. Clients first, then work, then time. Opening WIP keeps the date it was incurred and does not hit current-period revenue. Email and calendar reconnect from Microsoft 365 or Google — they are not imported from PracticePro. Confirm counts before cutover.

Questions

Is PracticePro 365 a Microsoft product?

No. PracticePro 365 is an independently developed CPA platform that runs on Dynamics 365 and Dataverse in the firm’s Microsoft tenant.

What is the difference between ficary and PracticePro 365?

PracticePro 365 is Microsoft-only Dynamics. ficary is a practice platform with a general ledger underneath, first-class on Google and Microsoft, with as-of WIP and AR, realization, and fee caps in the product.

Is ficary a PracticePro 365 alternative?

Yes — for firms that want practice management and books on one platform, and will not stay Microsoft-only. It is not a Dynamics clone and it is not tax prep.

Does ficary deploy into our Microsoft tenant?

No. You own the data plane. The method is a dedicated database and private inference, on Google or Microsoft identity — not a forked Dataverse we implement by hand.

Can ficary age WIP and AR as of any date?

Yes. Hours carry an incurred date. Aging is a query. You can run WIP and AR as of month-end, mid-month, or a prior year.

How do realization and fee caps work in ficary?

Every hour stores an expected collectible. A service line can default it. An engagement can override it. A max fee zeros further WIP value so unbilled work cannot explode past the fee.

Can we bring opening WIP from another system?

Yes. Opening WIP keeps the date it was incurred and does not hit current-period revenue. Confirm counts before cutover.

Does ficary replace tax prep?

No. Tax prep stays last. Do not leave UltraTax or CCH Tax for ficary.

Has ficary earned SOC 2?

No. ficary has not earned SOC 2, ISO 27001, or a HIPAA attestation. PracticePro 365 markets SOC 2 Type 1. Our track is Type I, then Type II. We do not print an earned badge we do not have.
